Preclinical ALS model

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)

NeuroDetective now offers the standard pre-clinical model of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) for efficacy testing of novel therapeutics, the SOD1 transgenic mouse (G93A mutation).  The model is available from an in-house colony.  More importantly, the PI conducting these studies understands the limitations as well as the uses of this model.  The lab is fluent in both behavioral testing as well as study design issues related to achieving robust results with the standard survival measure.  Complementary  histopathological measurements are also used, i.e. motor neuron cell counting, somal measurements, and other immunohistochemical observations of glial activation or immune system responses.
