Potential therapies for insomnia, apnea, and other sleep disorders are typically evaluated in animal models with electrophysiological endpoints, in particular using electroencephalogram measures (EEG). NDI offers both rat and dog models for EEG measuring, plus behavioral measures for canines. Specific endpoints include:
• Description of sleep architecture (latency and duration of sleep stages) • Sleep maintenance • Sleep/ wakefulness cycles • Sleep physiology evaluation via EEG in freely moving animals • Changes in activity (dog) as a measure of setting/resetting of the circadian clock • Continuous measurement of food consumption over circadian cycles (dog) • Motor activity during the light/dark cycle (dog). • REM and NREM sleep patterns, including the following parameters:
- REM - NREM - Continuity - Sleep bout duration
